Professor Liz Shanahan

Biography

Liz is an Adjunct Professor and life sciences entrepreneur with extensive experience in leading and advising global life science and healthcare organisations. She is a Founder and CEO of Kingdom Therapeutics, a clinical stage company focussed on the impact of the endocannabinoid system on the gut to develop treatments for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder. Liz is an experienced Chair and NED of FTSE 250, AIM listed and PE owned businesses. 

She was previously Global Head of Healthcare & Lifesciences at the NYSE-listed management consultancy, FTI Consulting Inc., who had, acquired the communications business, Santé Communications, which she had founded.

In addition to her NED’s, Liz is also a Director & Trustee of a hospital charity, CWPlus, the charitable arm of Chelsea & Westminster Foundation Trust Hospital in London and a member of the organisation’s Innovations Advisory Board. She is also an Adjunct Professor and Entrepreneur in Residence in her Alma Mater, UCC. Liz is an angel investor in a handful of healthcare companies, mostly health-tech. She was highlighted by the Irish Times as one of Irelands most significant global leaders in Healthcare & Lifesciences and as a Sci-Tech leader worldwide by Silicon Republic. Liz is a proud native of Kerry and was awarded Kerry Person of the Year in 2017/18. 

Liz has a degree in Computer Programming & Maths from University College Cork, and she is an alumnus of the University of Virginia, Darden School of Business. She divides her time between Kerry & London.
